My name is Austin. I’m a cybersecurity analyst.
Most of what I publish here comes out of curiosity: I’ll read about an attack technique or a cloud service, decide I don’t really understand it, and then go build it in a lab until I do. Writing the process or getting hands-on is how I make things stick, plus I can showcase what I’m interested in!
What I focus on
- Homelabs. I like building things that bring a little value to my life. How can I see my local train schedule? How can I block ads on my home network?
- Cloud related things. I passed the Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) after spending a summer on it, and I wrote up the full study path.
- Automation. Mostly Python
- Conferences. I love to learn from people smarter than me especially when I get to learn something cool that I can try out
non-career
I love hiking, cool sneakers, playing guitar, and I’m a huge fan of the New York Knicks.
In summer 2023 I hiked to the summit of Mt. Fuji — 3,776.24 m / 12,389 ft.
My favorite sneaker is the Air Jordan 3 White Cement
